A Woodmouse Christmas

December is a special time, and it is for the little mice, too. The cellars and pantries are full, stocked with nuts, seeds, dried berries, food and drink. Everything gathered and prepared during summer and fall is ready to be enjoyed during the long cold winter months. Our little friends stay indoors throughout most of the winter, only going outside to play in the snow or to visit friends. But their favorite thing to do during the cold season is to sit by the fire, cuddled up in a blanket, and to read or tell each other stories. And to eat. Or to sleep.
The last couple of weeks before the end of the year tend to be a bit busier, though. There are presents to be wrapped, rooms to be decorated and twigs and greenery to be arranged. There are many gatherings of friends and family. One such occasion were the Christmas celebrations at Fir Hall. Horatio, Emma, and little toddler Woodmouse were invited by their dear friends, the Whitemouse family. They live in a tall tree, near the edge of the Great Forest. Together they prepared for the festivities and enjoyed each other´s company. Emmas cousin joined them as well. Everyone had a great time. Merry Christmas, little mice!

Before the other guests arrive, a sneak peek into the dining hall

Millie Whitemouse is Mr. & Mrs. Whitemouse`s grandchild. She`s adding one more bit of greenery to the decor,

while her Grandma cares for the Woodmouse baby.

Meanwhile, Emma`s cousin enjoys some time with another special guest.

Fir Hall smells of pines and cookies, cakes and baked apples and cinnamon.

Hello, little one!

Say cheese! Everyone else is seated at the great dining table already, but our friends here were posing for another snapshot round the desserts table.
