Yesterday, Flynn helped Dani and me put up the tree. He loved the lights and was so excited when he saw the lit tree again in the living room after waking up this morning. This year it's less fancy and more Flynnie-ish (= toddler-proof, i.e., plastic ornaments and tinsel garlands instead of glass baubles and dainty metal ornaments), with colorful lights (Yesss!).
We finally have a new tree, after the one we had been using for the last seven years has been broken from the time we had first gotten it from Dani's parents, who didn't have any use for it anymore, and which, every year, died a little more. Last year I put it in our big wicker box, so the lower, broken off, branches would stay where they were supposed to be in the first place. At least it would look like it ;). This new tree is slightly taller and although it's individual needles look a bit cheesy compared to our old tree, the overall bushiness is wonderful and I love it! It was a good deal, too. I am still going to salvage parts of the old tree, to decorate. The twigs can be used for endless ideas.
Happy Christmas decorating! And happy 1st Advent.
